PostSubject: A second chance. (Open)   A second chance. (Open) Icon_minitimeSun Jan 27, 2013 5:39 pm

Surviving the tumbling through the void as she did was no small feat, as the forces that found her in this predicament were far from normal. She had fallen into this abyss by no choice of her own, but out of a grave mistake. At first, tumbling through this void was horrifying, but soon she'd find herself failing to keep conscious. There's no way to know how long she'd been out for, or why... All she knew was that upon slowly opening her eyes, she found herself in a realm completely unlike the one she'd just left. First thing she noticed was the overwhelming yet beautiful moon overhead, the luminous body so beautiful that she couldn't help but remain in awe for a moment. This beauty was enhanced twofold, because it meant that, in some way or another, she still existed. This was a relieving thought given her recent predicament, although now she began to wonder...
The first thing she did after shaking from her gaze was that this place was not exactly where she'd expected to end up, she was lying in an alleyway, nearly abandoned. The buildings nearby were swept at an angle that allowed for a much fuller viewing of the skies above. Her focus now darted around to find her exact location though, the alleyway carried the tint of the luminous moon above, cast down at an almost eerie angle. The walls were of simple brick and mortar, rather quaint, lacking in elegance, so she couldn't be in the Prime city... Where exactly then, was she? She tried to recall places like this that she'd been to, but couldn't figure it out. She'd never been to a place where at least two of the three moons weren't always visible... Curious really. Well there was no better time than the present, wandering off she would find herself soon making way to a street, with a small number of people lining them. She wanted to ask someone where she was, but was a bit too afraid to. Given what just happened to her, the world didn't look very friendly now. She decided to keep a low profile and just mind her business. If she were to come into luck, she may find some evidence as to where she was. But for now, she would just walk aimlessly, too afraid to speak to anyone...

Scouting the rooftops of Diana the reptile was wearing a recent addition to his armory. Naming it Ecdysis solely for when he removed it the helmet kept his face concealed but also prevented things from getting in his face. Like bugs or something. Having that enter your mouth was kind of...tastey. Okay, maybe that was just his reptilian side. As he looked through the city he noticed he would turn around when there was a large thud. The dimension shook with the entry of a new beast.

A giant turtle like beast with wings and yellow skin emerged. He hadn't seen one of these before and would wonder how it would be taken out. It was in the middle of the streets and even damaged some of the buildings which would easily be taken care of. This was a type of thing that allowed people to have consistent incomes and all that fun stuff. It would be something he would be interested in had he not decided to be a rogue and wander about. Truthfully, the man was somewhat a criminal despite the fact that he had never been caught stealing showers in other people's apartments and etc.

"Interesting, it has a red shell too." He said taking note of the tone of the shell. He would move closer to the beast as the civilians most likely flee. It was a couple stories tall after all.

(Mr. Mimic active, - 10 source)

"Another one?" His attendant nodded to him, and he sighed. "Damn it. Those things are way more trouble..." he grumbled the rest of his words, and his attendant remained silent as he stood up and walked out of the room. On the way he grabbed his business jacket and put it on over his undershirt, mumbling incoherently. Rojoopa. Every few years one managed to bumble its way into Abaddon. They were large, goofy looking creatures that loved to eat a very special kind of Kelp. Kelp that grew at high altitudes in water pipes that lead to Altostraus. Water pipes the lead from a part of MadCross. The problem with this is that sometimes the damn things ate the whole fucking pipe and caused a water shortage in Altostratus and flooding in MadCross, which meant that nobody was making money during that time period. Once they got settled in, removing them took months s dealing with it now would ease the whole city's woe. He boarded a car, and headed to Diana. This would normally take a few hours. Good thing he had a shortcut. He closed his eyes and started to focus. He would be here and there soon enough.

Traipsing about the city looking for clues wasn't as easy as Iscia had first thought, especially given she knew not what she was seeking. Old news perhaps? Signposts? Familiar faces? Oddly enough this place was barren of all of that. She took a turn around a street bend and glanced sorrowfully downwards, and feeling more lost than ever. She remained in her thoughts, frantically wondering where she was, but moreover, how she got there. The tear in space was deeper than she'd ever known, and there was no telling where she'd ended up. But it wasn't long before her thoughts were interrupted, a tremorous shake took the girl by surprise.
Looking back up, she heard something, definitely loud. She darted off in the direction it came from. Rounding a corner or two she dashed out and found a large creature in the streets, and it looked to be wreaking havoc judging by the amount of collateral damage in the area. The creature was strange looking, nothing like anything she'd ever seen before. Iscia was unsure of what to do. It took a moment, but she remembered an old spell she was taught in her youth that may work for just such an occasion. Outstretching her right hand, and keeping her left close to her chest, she attempted to call on her powers to put the creature to rout. It only took a moment for her to realize however, that her powers did not function. She couldn't feel the magic that she used to have. She glanced down at her hand, unsure what to think. A moment later, she decided she could do no good here, and instead attempted to turn and run, as all the civilians already seemed to have done.

Portalling to an appropriate building the static of the man exited now looking at the beast up close. This thing was disgusting. The yellow skin was probably white at one point and it clearly let itself not bathe properly judging by the odor that came from the creature. Normally he'd throw his weapon to test the durability of the creature's skin but unlike the other dimension they did not have the ability to reappear in his hands. As it was about to destroy a car Etzolix created a portal underneath the beast's feet that would make it so it would slip and deck itself in the face. When it did this it definitely hurt the creature but perhaps he took it too far. As the creature slammed into the building that the reptile was standing atop of it began to collapse. The creature stood up without even caring about the accident that it just caused. Perhaps it was a normal sized turtle in its own dimension? That'd be one crazy dimension to have to survive in.

"Is the helicopter in position?"

"Yes sir, in the usual spot like you asked."

"Proper longitude and latitude?"

"Yeah."

"Yeah?" His tone changed to an indignant one. 'Yeah'? To Jake? just 'Yeah'? The man driving quickly realized his mistake.

"I meant yes, sir." Jake smiled with his eyes closed.

"Good, I thought so." He started to breath. Ah yes, breathing. Simply breathing. Then suddenly the chopping of helicopter blades surrounded him. Wind flowed through as he opened new eyes and tapped the pilot on the shoulder. "Where is it?"

"There," the man nodded. A large turtle glided lazily above the city. "How did you get up here?"

"Doesn't matter, fly over it."

"What are you going to do?"

"Jump," he smiled "I'm going to jump on it." The helicopter started flying to the Rojoopa.

Fleeing the scene Iscia finally got to a point where she felt safe. It wasn't long before she decided that she still wanted to see though. With an overwhelming curiosity, and adrenaline fueled speed, she found a taller building and scaled it to see the monster from a distance. She could still see it, a helicopter overhead, about a mile away. She stood there, watching and waiting to see what would happen. Perhaps that was the city guard taking the beast down?... Only one way to find out...

Etzolix heard the helicopter and looked up wondering what it was going to do. Did it have some insane weapon that would eliminate this beast or was it some guy trying to take pictures? It could be a local news reporter, who knew? Etzolix would let them get out of the way before interfering unless they were going to actually put a stop to this.

Jake smiled as he leapt from the helicopter, barrelling feet first downward at the monsters head. Down, down down! And then, suddenly, he made contact.

All at once the large turtle withdrew into its shell, and Jake found himself underneath it. He swung his leg back and...

http://www.mariomayhem.com/downloads/sounds/super_mario_bros/smb_kick.wav

A mighty kick sent the Rojoopa shell sailing through the skies at Altostratus. Would it hit? None could say. As he turned the helicopter flew close to him and he grabbed onto it, flying downwards as he crawled back in. "Do we land?" Jake nodded.

"Yes. Yes we do."

The spectacle was..... well impressive to say the least. Did that man actually just launch a giant turtle into the heavens? Perhaps physics in this area were different? There was only one moon overhead after all. Certainly the scholars would be impressed to see and document this region if that were the case. Perhaps they did? Iscia never recalled reading a text that spoke of anything like this... No that couldn't be it, something else was going on here.
She was almost afraid to find out exactly what, but she descended all the same to go and see the remains of the area where that spectacle took place. With any luck, security and cleanup crews would be there, and she could ask the local law enforcement all she needed to know. As such she whipped around and descended the building to the streets once more. She ran onwards, her dress gracefully flowing with her, hair whipped up in her running, she almost resembled a Fisnev in motion. ((OOC: Fisnev being a native specie to her home world, I don't expect you to get it))

What the fuck? That's it. Etzolix quit. What the hell was wrong with this dimension? A punch to the face didn't defeat the beast but a man much too small to crush it stepped on its back and sent it flying to the heavens. Sitting on top of the roof he wondered what the hell was going to happen now that the turtle went flying. Maybe it's wings could help it or something. Etzolix dangled his legs from a building like he was a child and would watch the congregation of people from above. He would potentially interact with the helicopter when it landed. Well, not the helicopter but the people within.

The helicopter touched down and Jake hopped out onto the ground, brushing some dust off his suit that he'd accumulated in his free fall. Minor damage abound, but all in all he'd done good work and kept his city from being flooded for the umpteenth time. "Well, that was certainly exciting."

((Fine I'm hipster, sue me ;P ))
Iscia made it back to the street where the spectacle unfolded. There was a rather fair gathering of people, albeit many who were in the doorways, afraid to fully come out just yet. She gently pushed her way through some of the now forming crowd, and watched as the helicopter from before landed on site, unloading a passenger from the vehicle, or perhaps the pilot? It was difficult to tell from here. She decided to get closer to see for herself. Making it to the inner "Ring" of people, she saw them more clearly, but quickly remembered why she came at all. Looking around there were no law enforcement or cleanup crews in sight, leaving her to muse as to where they could be. It was rather sudden, mayhap they hadn't arrived yet?... She decided to wait just a bit longer in the crowd, not trusting to reveal herself to any ordinary stranger, hoping to see someone of some stature who could help enlighten her.

Opening a portal to the man who landed he would then exit, not currently realizing they had met already. "So, how'd you do that?" He asked not even attempting to conceal his voice. Noticing the similarity in elements he couldn't properly justify where he'd seen this before so he didn't think too much of it. Perhaps he was just imagining things from the previous dimension. Although, the way he saw things here were notably different it wasn't too far off of an assumption that he'd be having flashbacks in a way that made sense within this dimension. Having the appropriate weapons as always he was interested in the tiny man before him if only for that spectacle.

"What, send it flying like that? A simple feat. Rojoopa's are very odd creatures. Somehow they have personal dimensional rules they have to follow even here. Its the fifth or sixth time I've had to take care of it. The head has a cluster of nerves at the top that triggers withdrawal into the shell. Somehow, kicking it sends it flying. Never punching oddly enough. Always kicking." He hadn't been looking at the stranger as he spoke, analyzing the rest of the area and gathering crowd. "Its being treated like a bigger deal then it really is, you know? I guess they've nothing better to do than gawk." He finally turned his eyes on the stranger. He'd known from the voice the speakers identity (at least that he'd met them), but never let on that he had. He outstretched a hand. "Terribly sorry, I should introduce myself. Jake, Consul of MadCross. May I have your name?"

Wading into the crowd of people proved to be a bit more obnoxious now that there were more and more of them... Still no sign of any authority, but it had only been a few seconds, it only made sense. She was feeling rather impatient by now though, and couldn't help but want it to hurry on. A greater concern was that she'd recently become a target amongst many non-sort, and they did have assassins, so staying in a crowd like this was... uninviting. Perhaps she was just being paranoid she thought to herself. Before her thoughts could resume she couldn't help but notice that there was a new form speaking to the man who... er.... felled(?) the large tortoise. This new figure was in a rather complicated looking jumpsuit, and the visor he bore made her fear of the assassins the was just thinking of... Perhaps some of her powers remained? She decided to scan the pair and take a look, see if they were as hostile as they seemed... Or as dangerous.....

"Huh, that's interesting." He said legitimately interested behind the physics of that creature. "My name isn't important." He responded as he typically did diverting attention away from himself. This wasn't even him trying to hide anything. In this universe his name was actually not important.

"Unimportant, huh?" He pulled a cigar from his pocket, throwing it away just as suddenly as he produced it. "Poor way to show it, what with your fancy suit and all. You stick out a bit, but then again sometimes people just need to hide their faces, not their presence." He immediately felt like something was probing him, invading his privacy. "You feel that?" Maybe not. It could have been just him, but whatever it was that caused this invasive feeling (that's the only way he could describe it) only served to bother him more than concern him. He wasn't sure what was happening, but as he turned his head to scan the crowd once more he noticed a new face in the front, almost starting at them. Is it you? His thoughts built upon themselves like brick and mortar. If it was her, he'd be having a chat with this individual soon enough.

Iscia looked at the pair for a moment, and it seemed one of them became rather aware of her presence. Long ago she would be able to scan people without leaving a trace, did she lose that power too? What exactly was going on? She was worried, more out of paranoia than anything, and rather quickly integrated herself back into the crowd. If she were lucky, she would duck off and be able to get away. She could only prey they weren't agents of her foes...

"The mask's priority isn't to conceal but to protect." He responded. He wasn't keen on keeping himself hidden in this world. At least he wasn't really trying to make it difficult to recognize who he was. Understanding that there had been a new feeling in the mix the reptile hadn't thought much of it. "I figured that was a side effect of engaging in discussion with you." There were no snide intention in this remark, only authenticity. Following his eyes he looked to the person that he was eyeing down and opened a portal up for her to enter and welcomed her to the conversation. He wondered if the offer would be accepted or declined and how she would react. Perhaps his helmet did seem a bit intimidating if only in the sense that he seemed to be concealing his identity for unknown reason.

"I wished I could tell if that were a joke, mask." He kept his gaze on the girl who vanished back into the crowd, then heard a foreign noise. Turning his head to a see a portal, he looked back to where a crowd was parting a little ways away. Is he trying to bring her here? He nodded thoughtfully. "I suppose if she does't come willingly I can just take her," he growled. "I want to know if that feeling was her, and how. I felt violated."

Iscia attempted to get further from the scene now, that was far too creepy for her comfort. But it seems it was too late, some large distortion in time and space opened up before her. Distortions like that in space-time were not common practice and very few had the gift to do such things... they probably had one of them with them. In that case this would be extra dangerous, especially with her powers behaving strangely. She didn't like the look of this at all and attempted to melt even further into the crowd, in just a moment, she would seize her chance to make a break for it.

"If you want you can chase her through my portal." He shrugged. Perhaps they didn't call rips within this dimension portals? They weren't paths of darkness like in the previous worlds. These did somehow make more sense within this dimension with his new affiliation for space. Perhaps that was just a side effect of traveling with Shirou. He didn't particularly have any affinity for it in the previous world but perhaps the lack of darkness within this one was turned into the closest form of the raw energy element present? He wasn't sure and decided not to over think such trivial things at this moment. He didn't want to miss what going to happen between the two considering this man was acting rather hostile.

"Thanks," he nodded. He only hesitated for a moment, before bolting through the portal. Sure, he wasn't the fastest, but he certainly wasn't the slowest. He had another advantage too: strength. He pushed through the crowd easily, closing in on her. Her face. Her hair style. Her body. Every thing snapped like a photo in his brain, and he was locked on like a missile. "Hey, girl," he called. "Stop." Like a command it came from his chest as he pushed past the rabble. "Girl, what did you do?" His voice was almost angry. Almost-- it was more threatening in its stern tone and flat drive than angry. He wasn't exactly sure how he was going to handle this-- if she wouldn't stop, he'd run her down: that much he did know.

Unfortunately her escape plans were short lived. This spacial disruption was a gateway in actuality, and the man from before emerged from it. She quickly turned around and began to walk, but she heard him call out and tell her to stop. She was found...
Tch...
She stood still, only lowering her head and turning it slightly left to show she was listening. This was probably not a good situation, he seemed to be almost agitated given his very stern tone... Either that or he was just a stern person... Regardless if he could traverse time-space at will, as it seemed, odds were that ignoring him would be the worst idea. Taking a moment to pause she scoffed quietly before replying.
I've done nothing. What do you want of me?
As she waited for his response she spun around, carefully tucking her right hand behind her back and placing the left in the middle of her chest. The latter hand she balled into a fist as well, more as a bracing action than anything.
